Biography

Sulabha Arya, also credited as Sulbha Arya, is an Indian actress known for her extensive work across Hindi and Marathi cinema, television, and theatre. She gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Kantaben in the film Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003) and as Shanti Masi in the television series Sasural Genda Phool. Her career encompasses notable roles in productions such as Masoom (1996), Hera Pheri (2000), and Ventilator (2016).

Raised in a Maharashtrian family in Mumbai, Arya pursued higher education in the city and taught logic and physics at MVLU College. She began her acting journey in theatre, joining the Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA), where she later served as president. Her television debut came with the sitcom Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi in 1984. Arya was married to cinematographer Ishan Arya (Irshad Ahsan), and they have two sons: Sameer Arya, a cinematographer, and Sagar Arya, an actor.

Arya's contributions have significantly influenced Indian entertainment, particularly in portraying maternal and comedic characters on screen. Her performances have resonated with audiences, reflecting the evolving landscape of Indian television and cinema.
