Virginia Balestrieri

Actress of theater and cinema, Virginia Balistrieri began acting near Giovanni Grasso and under the direction of Nino Martoglio in silent films. Subsequently she starred with numerous Italian actors, including Umberto Spadaro, Vittorio De Sica, Virna Lisi, Amedeo Nazzari, Nino Taranto, Anthony Quinn, and Vittorio Gassman. Her most important interpretation is the role of Santuzza in "Cavalleria rusticana" by Mario Gargiulo (the role is played by Tina Xeo). Wife of Giovanni Grasso jr., Actor (1888-1963), was the sister of Desdemona Balistrieri, also an actress and wife of Angelo Musco. She died in Rome in 1960.
