Biography

Ole Bornedal - born in Denmark. Lives in Denmark. Had his International breakthrough with the horror-classic Nightwatch, which was also his debut as a filmmaker. At the same time working as the youngest executive in the Danish National Television as head of TV-Drama. In many ways Nightwatch did introduce which was later named as "Nordic Noir". The film won international acclaim and rewards and took him to Hollywood where he worked for two years, with Dimension Films and Miramax, where he joined a team of ambitious directors like Soderberg, Del Toro, Tarantino and Rodriquez. He made his American version of Nightwatch starring Ewan McGregor, Josh Brolin, Patricia Arquette and Nick Nolte and worked as a creative producer on Del Toros first American film "Mimic". After a few "creative battles" with the Weinsteins, he left the company and returned to Denmark. Since then he has written and directed some of the most significant Danish films and TV-series over the past two decades. Such films as I Am Dina - with Mads Mikkelsen and Gerard Depardieu. Just another Love Story. Internationally acclaimed TV-series like Deep Water and the war epic "1864" - the biggest Scandinavian TV series made. Bornedal went to the US again, invited by Sam Raimi and directed the blockbuster hit The Possession, starring Kyra Sedgwick and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. "The Bombardement" aka "Shadows in my Eyes" has been one of the strongest Scandinavian films on Netflix and in Rotten Tomatoes called the "best movie" in a decade. Bornedal is represented by Ken Stovitz Management and The Danish Filmmakers Association.
