Biography

Tom Cross, ACE is an Academy Award winning film editor.

He began his career working on commercials in New York City before becoming an assistant editor on diverse projects such as We Own the Night, Two Lovers, Crazy Heart, and the Primetime Emmy Award-Winning drama series Deadwood. He came to worldwide prominence in 2015 when he won the Academy Award for Best Editing, the Independent Spirit Award for Best Editing, and the BAFTA Award for Best Editing (among other honors) for his work on Damien Chazelle's film Whiplash.

His Oscar win made him the first Vietnamese-American to win an Academy Award in any category.

Cross received his second Academy Award and BAFTA nominations for Damien Chazelle's musical La La Land. He went on to win the Critics Choice Award and ACE Eddie award for best editing.

Other credits include the comedy-drama Joy for David O. Russell, Scott Cooper's western Hostiles, starring Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike, and the 20th Century Fox musical The Greatest Showman directed by Michael Gracey.

Cross's work on Damien Chazelle's First Man won the Critics Choice Award for Best Film Editing as well as receiving ACE Eddie and BAFTA nominations.

Cross collaborated with director Cary Fukunaga on the James Bond film No Time To Die for MGM and Eon Productions. Cross and co-editor Elliot Graham were nominated for an ACE Eddie Award and won the BAFTA for Best Editing - the first Bond film ever to win that distinction.

His latest project, Damien Chazelle's Babylon for Paramount, garnered him a nomination from the Critics' Choice Awards for Best Editing.
