Oliver Dear

Oliver Dear was born into the entertainment industry in 1972. As the son of director William Dear (Harry and the Hendersons, Angels in the Outfield), he was exposed to the nuances of film, television and video production from an early age and quickly developed a passion for the visual arts. Establishing himself first as an actor, Oliver appeared in several commercials and television programs before landing his first significant film role as Kent in the teen agent comedy If Looks Could Kill (1991).

After broadening his experiences in front of the camera, Oliver subsequently became interested in the mechanics of visual production and aesthetic and went on to earn advanced degrees in the arts. In his efforts as both a fine and commercial artist, Oliver exhibits a remarkable imagination and flair for spatial design which has made his work highly sought after. His extensive experience as a storyboard artist includes activities in a wide variety of contexts including Volcano (1997), the pilot episode of Ally McBeal (1997) and the Discovery Channel series Dinosaur Planet (2003) and Alien Planet (2004).

In addition to focusing on his career as a painter, Oliver further expanded his repertoire in the pickaxe laden horror film _Simon Says (2006/I)_. As second unit director and production designer, he made use of his many years of experience in the visual arts to create an ambiance that juxtaposes the familiar and the macabre, giving a new visual aesthetic to the contemporary horror genre.
