Biography

J. Mills Goodloe began his career at Warner Brothers working for director Richard Donner whose credits include Superman, The Omen, Scrooged and the Lethal Weapon series. Goodloe was an assistant to Mr. Donner from 1992 to 1995 on Lethal Weapon 3 and Maverick. In 1996, Goodloe was named president of Richard Donner Productions. Over the next four years, Goodloe produced Assassins, starring Sylvester Stallone and Julianne Moore, and Conspiracy Theory starring Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts, along with the final installment of the Lethal Weapon series starring Mel Gibson, Rene Russo, Danny Glover and Chris Rock.

In 2001, Goodloe left Richard Donner Productions to write and direct A Gentleman's Game starring Gary Sinise, Dylan Baker and Philip Baker Hall. The film was nominated for an ESPY in the category of Best Sports Film. Goodloe next adapted two John Grisham novels "Bleachers" for Revolution Studios, and "Playing for Pizza" for Phoenix Pictures. In 2012, Goodloe wrote the screenplay for the inspirational sports biopic "Pride," released theatrically by Lionsgate, starring Terrence Howard and Bernie Mac. In 2014, Relativity Media released Goodloe's adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' best-selling novel "Best of Me" starring Michelle Monaghan and James Marsden.

In 2015, The Age of Adaline, an original Goodloe screenplay, starring Blake Lively and Harrison Ford, was released by Lionsgate to enormous critical and financial success. In 2017, Warner Bros. released Goodloe's adaptation of the New York Times' bestselling novel Everything, Everything which starred Amandla Stenberg and Nick Robinson. In 2019, Goodloe wrote The Mountain Between Us which had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. The film, starring Kate Winslet and Idris Elba, was directed by Academy Award nominated director Hany Abu-Assad.

In 2020, Goodloe wrote the screenplay To All The Boys I've Loved Before, which became Netflix's most viewed Young Adult title in the streamer's history. In 2021, Goodloe partnered with Amazon studios to write and produce a remake of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. The film is set to begin principal photography in the Spring 2024 with Lana Condor starring. Goodloe is also writing and producing an "Age of Adaline" television series with Blake Lively as his partner in a further collaboration of their much-acclaimed film, as well as adapting the novel How to Be Remembered for producer Elizabeth Cantillon and MRC Entertainment.
