A hazel eyed beauty born on the 19th of February, Kim Goody has done a
bit of everything in her career. Showing a talent for singing and
acting at an early age, she played the part of Sheila in a production
of "Hair" in late 1974. Later she was a guest star on the ITV series
Return of the Saint (1978)
and
The Professionals (1977).
During the eighties Goody would make numerous appearances on this
channel.
In 1982 she made her debut on the Saturday morning children's TV show
No 73 (1982), and soon became a regular
on the show, even staying along for the second incarnation,
7T3 (1988). During this time she also
co-presented
Freetime (1980) with
Mick Robertson and made guest appearances
on many other Children's ITV shows
(
Rainbow (1972) for instance). She
also sang the theme tune for several series, including "Over the Moon"
and "Toksvig" (starring her former No 73 co-star
Sandi Toksvig, and regularly performed in
pantomimes over the Christmas holidays.
Together with
Ringo Starr,
Joe Walsh and Mo Foster, Kim
co-wrote the song "In My Car" for
Ringo Starr's 1983 album "Old Wave". She
also sang backing vocals for the following artists:
Manfred Mann,
Bob Young,
Sheena Easton,
Eddie Hardin,
Neil Innes and
The Kinks.
In 1987 Kim recorded the
Albert Hammond
and
Diane Warren song "Don't Turn
Around" as a single, which was later performed by
Aswad,
Bonnie Tyler,
Neil Diamond,
Ace of Base and
Tina Turner.
From 1988 to 1989 she once again teamed up with
Mick Robertson to present "Roustabout" on
the "Childrens' Channel". In 1990 she finally got to appear on the BBC
as a "Song for Europe" contender for the annual European song festival.
Her song "Sentimental Again", once again co-written with Mo Foster,
finished in third place. After being a regular on
Fern Britton's short-lived entertainment
show "After the News", Kim settled down with
The Hollies' guitarist
Alan Coates. Together Kim and
Alan Coates set up their "The Voice
and Music Company" in London, writing and producing commercial jingles
and TV themes for programs such as
Mike & Angelo (1989) and
Good Morning... with Anne and Nick (1992).
Kim performed the vocals for the theme tunes for
Tiny Planets (1999) and
Fifi and the Flowertots (2005).
The couple had a baby daughter, Georgina, on the 28th of May 2002.
