Biography

Karen Harley is a Brazilian film editor and documentary filmmaker. She has edited over fifty feature films, including works by Anna Muylaert, Petra Costa, Lucrecia Martel, Myrid Carten, Marcelo Gomes, Karim Aïnouz, Fernando Coimbra, Cláudio Assis, Guilherme Coelho. She co-directed the documentaries Para Vigo Me Voy (Cannes Classics 2025), Ritas, Waste Land (Academy Award nominated), and directed the shorts With the whole ocean to swim and We fishing the time. Her films have screened at major festivals such as Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Sundance, IDFA - three of them Oscar nominees. She has won Brazil's Academy Award five times and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
