Biography

MIchael Kantor is a filmmaker, producer and writer. As Executive Producer of the American Masters series for PBS, he created the American Masters PIctures banner in 2016 to bring documentary films to theaters. He served as Executive Producer on Rita Moreno: Just A Girl Who Decided To Go For It (2021) along with Norman Lear and Lin-Manuel Miranda, Amy Tan: Unintended Memoir (2021), Ailey (2021), the Emmy-winning Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool (2019), and Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am (2019). Kantor produced and directed the Emmy-winning 6-part series, Broadway: The American Musical (2004), hosted by Julie Andrews, and the Emmy-nominated 6-part series, Make 'Em Laugh: The Funny Business of America (2009), hosted by Billy Crystal.
