Charles Koppelman

Charles is a writer, film producer/director, and opera producer. He has collaborated with Bill Moyers, Michael Moore, Walter Murch, Delroy Lindo, Robert Wilson, and Placido Domingo, among others. His documentaries include a portrait of composer Michael Nyman, a real time investigation of a money mule in Texas, and the story of squatters in Philadelphia. He produced and co-wrote The Circle of Recovery, a Bill Moyers PBS Special, which led to his making the dramatic feature film, Dumbarton Bridge starring Tom Wright. Charles wrote the book Behind the Seen about film editor Walter Murch and the making of the movie, Cold Mountain. He recently co-produced The Organizer, a feature documentary about Wade Rathke and the national grassroots organization, ACORN. Charles is the producer and librettist for Cubanacan, the first new Cuban opera in 50 years.
