Lou Lilly

Animation director, gag writer and background artist Lou Lilly did his best work as one of the residents of Leon Schlesinger's 'Termite Terrace' at Warner Brothers. Lilly began in the movie business as an extra and wardrobe boy before joining the company of animation pioneer Charles Mintz. Between 1940 and 1944, he put his talents to work on Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons, including Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. Upon leaving Warners, Lilly joined the scenario department of Jerry Fairbanks Inc. at Paramount for ten years as production manager on the film series "Speaking of Animals". For the company's commercial division, he also worked on Standard Oil advertising featurettes. In 1951, he set up Lou Lilly Productions on Sunset Boulevard where he produced and directed commercials for various nationwide agencies. He retired in 1970.
