Vangelis Mourikis

Vangelis Mourikis is a Greek actor known for his understated intensity and long collaboration with major filmmakers of contemporary Greek cinema. He studied acting, film, and art history in Australia before returning to Greece, where he built a steady career across independent and mainstream productions. Over the years he has worked with directors such as Georgis Grigorakis, Yannis Economides, Nikos Grammatikos, Pantelis Voulgaris, Thodoros Maragos, Sotiris Goritsas, and Athina Rachel Tsangari. Mourikis has earned wide critical recognition, receiving multiple awards at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, including honors for roles in The King (2002), Rakushka (2004), and Agrypnia (2005). His performance in Stratos (2014) earned him a Best Actor award from the Hellenic Film Academy, and he later won Best Actor at the Sarajevo Film Festival for his role in Grigorakis's Digger (2020). Known for his depth and emotional precision, he remains one of the most respected actors in Greek cinema.
