Sam grew up dancing with The Boston Ballet and continued his ballet
training at North Carolina School of the Arts. After high school he
moved from Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Brooklyn and attended
David Mamet and
William H. Macy's Atlantic Theater Conservatory. After playing two
different characters on the same sitcom and working with
Barry Levinson
on a pilot in NYC he moved to LA. He was the first character cast for a
Laura Ziskin pilot that went on to series called
Three Moons Over Milford (2006). Despite the shows mixed reviews, Sam received mentions in both
The Hollywood Reporter and Variety for giving a charming and stand out
performance as the young man of the house. A lead role in the play
"Dead End" at the Ahmanson Theater gained him recognition within the
industry and led to a recurring role on
Chad Hodge's CW series
Runaway (2006),
as well as the pilot
Suspect (2007) with director
Guy Ritchie. His performance
on
ER (1994) opposite Oscar nominee
Adriana Barraza as the volatile blue
collared son of a construction worker showed that he could play a tough
guy while still maintaining a strong level of vulnerability. Because of
these opportunities he has continued to work in varied roles in
television and film throughout the last 5 years.
