Hans Perk from 1966 lived in Huizen, Noord-Holland, Netherlands while going to school in Bussum and then studying art history at the University of Amsterdam. He bought his first animation peg-bar in January 1976 and was mentored by Danish animator and film maker Børge Ring 1979-1984, where as assistant animator he worked on commercials and several feature films including 'Heavy Metal' (1981) and the first Dutch animated feature 'Als je begrijpt wat ik bedoel' (1983). He was the assistant director, editor and junior animator on Ring's Academy Award winning short film 'Anna& Bella.' From July 1984 he worked in Copenhagen, Denmark, first as supervising animator on 'Valhalla,' after which from 1988 he co-founded the successful studio A. Film. He co-directed the two part 'Verdenshistorien' ('History of Our Wonderful World,' 1993) and produced 'Bagom Valhalla' (2003), a 'making of' of the film 'Valhalla.' In 2008 he founded A. Film L.A., Inc. in California, of which he became sole owner in 2010. That year, A. Film in Denmark was reorganized as A. Film Production, and he directed and edited 'Nijntje de film' ('Miffy the movie,' 2013) for that studio. In 2019 he relocated to Orange County, CA, USA, but continues to work for the Danish studio by remote as editor and technical consultant. He is especially glad for his animation-historical research, has lectured on Walt Disney's Hyperion Avenue studio at several D23 Expos and has contributed his research to several books on Disney's animation.
