Biography

Eric Player received a Bachelor of Arts in Theater and Film with a Screenwriting emphasis from Brigham Young University in 1997, and a Masters of Fine Arts from Chapman University in 2008.

In 2001, Eric was commissioned by Dave Calloway at Cinevision 2000 to co-write a TV pilot for a courtroom drama series called "Civic Duty." Also beginning in 2001, Eric worked extensively for Kurt Hale, of Halestorm Entertainment, a national distributor and producer of theatrical and home entertainment content, reading screenplays, proofreading prospectuses, pitching ideas, and coordinating graphic designers as well as musical talent for projects. Eric read screenplay submissions for Halestorm Entertainment, and adapted a Ruth Hale play for them. This adaption, "The Other Side of Love," was optioned by Halestorm, and then set aside so that the company could focus on "The Singles Ward," a feature independently released nationwide in 2001 and 2002. Mr. Player was an uncredited script doctor on "The Singles Ward." See IMDb.

In summer 2003, Eric became involved in the curriculum overhaul project for Language Training at the Development Department of the LDS Missionary Training Center, while continuing his relationship with Halestorm. As a Consultant for the MTC Development Department, he was asked to script the complete series of English originals associated with their project. In 2006, Mr Player wrote all the scripts for the 2nd grade level Powerspeak Language Study Course, published through Motive Media, LLC of Santa Barbara, California. In 2008, Mr. Player produced or was on the production team of 18 films of the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University, his two thesis films being festival award winners.

Eric's student thesis short film, "Nothing But The Best," was an Official Selection at the 2010 Newport Beach Film Festival. Eric was also co-writer on "The Given," which premiered August 8, 2010, in Bangkok, Thailand, for Film Expo Asia 2010. In 2011, Eric associate produced "The Secret Life of Jonathan Sky," and in 2013, his short film "Political Fallout" was featured in a special screening at the LDS Film Festival.

Eric organized Panther Pictures in Orange County in 2010. Since that time, Eric has continued to produce award-winning content, including "Moment of Anger (2016)," "UndercoverUp (2018)," and "The Fruit (2019)." All are featured festival entries, with a Best Picture honor at the Roadhouse International Film Festival for "Moment of Anger."

Panther Pictures migrated to Pennsylvania in 2012, and back to California in 2013. As of 2025, The company is based in Fargo, North Dakota. Eric Player works in the industry as a script doctor and edits projects for hire. He continues to produce his own media as well. His 2023 short, "Stay With Me," was an Official Selection at the Boston Film Festival and the Best Drama Short at the 2024 Glendale International Film Festival. Harmless, a new feature film shot on small gauge format, is in post-production.
