He grew up in a home that favored the visual arts. The 'Bridge on the River Kwai', made a huge impression on him. In high school, he had access a Super 8 camera and made short films. He was interested in storytelling. He studied literature at McGill University in Montreal and switched to communications because it was closer to film. About that time, he was photographer on a 16mm on no-budget film 'Chasing the Wind'. He then I transferred to Concordia, to take advantage of its film production program, one of the biggest in Quebec, which led to working on feature films and television productions.
