T. Rex, originally Tyrannosaurus Rex, was an English band formed in London in 1967 by singer/songwriter/guitarist Marc Bolan. Originally an acoustic psychedelic folk band, they changed their style and played electric rock. They are best known for the Glam Rock scene in the early 1970s and had 4 number 1 hits in 71-72. The band has had many members but the classic line up was Marc Bolan, Bill Legend, Mickey Finn and Steve Currie.
