Amina Rizk was a prominent Egyptian actress whose career spanned over seven decades, making her one of the most enduring figures in Arab cinema and theatre and a cultural icon whose legacy had an influence on Egyptian drama and film. Born in Tanta, Egypt, she moved to Cairo at a young age and began acting in the 1920s alongside her aunt, the actress Amina Mohamed. She gained recognition early on for her strong screen presence and emotional depth.

She is best known for her roles as the quintessential Egyptian mother, kind, patient and morally upright, which earned her widespread affection across generations. Her filmography includes classics like The Nightingale's Prayer (1959), Amwal el yatama (1952), Saut min el madi (1956), The Beginning and the End (1960), The River of Love (1960), [link=tt0462705, The Shame (1982) and Kit Kat (1991).
