Kal studied cinematography with Billy Williams, BSC (The Exorcist, Gandhi) Christian Berger (Caché, White Ribbon) and worked as a Paris-based photographer before moving to London to study acting and directing.
The Gift (w/t The Birthday) was in Competition at Austin, Florida, LA Shorts, and won the TCM Turner Classics Special Jury Prize at London.
Carousel was in Competition in Berlin, Oberhausen, Edinburgh and Brest, released theatrically in France by L'Agence Court Métrage as Shorts.tv handle international sales.
The Soldier is an AFF Second Rounder, while a previous draft was a Final Draft Big Break Semi-Finalist.
Stones won the ScriptBiz Screenplay Award at Rhode Island and is a Page Awards Semi-Finalist.
Kal is a recent recipient of Canada Council's Concept to Realisation Grant.
