Sir Mortimer Wheeler was a British archaeologist known for his appearances on radio and television, particularly the BBC series Animal, Vegetable, Mineral? (1952-1959) and Buried Treasure (1954-1959). His popularity earned him the Television Personality of the Year award in 1954. He presented his own history series Armchair Voyage: Hellenic Cruise (1958) and The Grandeur That Was Rome (1960).
