Biography

Jane is an author, dramatist, scriptwriter and criminologist with a PhD (Criminology) Cambridge University, who regularly appears in crime documentaries.

These include in the US & UK 2024/5 the ITN series "Worlds Most Notorious Killers" streamed on Peacock, episodes of the Crime Channel series "The Truth About My Murder" and EM's "Fred and Rose West: Love and Murder" streamed Amazon, and "The Disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa" and his links with The Mob, streamed. She also appears in the BAFTA nominated Sky documentary 3-part series: "Fred West: The Glasgow Girls," produced by IWC, telling the story of the first victims of West.

Jane began on CORONATION STREET and since then her TV dramas include "IN SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES" , "The BILL" and creating and writing BBC TV drama "THE THIEVING HEADMISTRESS" starring DENIS LAWSON, PAULINE QUIRKE, GEOFFREY PALMER. She has also written sitcoms.

Her 2025 play "MY VOICES MY LIFE & ME: THE MENTAL HEALTH MONOLOGUES" the first in a trilogy about the lived experiences of people living with enduring mental health issues, eg, schizophrenia, psychosis, dual diagnosis. It has had highly successful readings at Cambridge Junction and Derby Theatre studio and features actors from the Full Monty, Notting Hill, Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy & Coupling. Her other plays for stage include: "SUMMAT'S HAPPENED" and based on her book "AFTER EVIL" is about the teenage son of one of the victims of the Yorkshire Ripper. Her play "LIFER" has been adapted to audio, starring MICHELLE COLLINS with an introduction by poet BRENDA BIRUNGI/ LADY UNCHAINED. Her play "WHACK-A-MOLE", is a 'serious' comedy thriller featuring three generations of women up against the system, and has been likened to a "female Breaking Bad set in the Fens". The play successfully formed part of the "I'm Here, Where Are You?" Disability Arts Festival at Cambridge Junction, followed by a regional tour. The play was also audio recorded in 2021 starring MICHELLE COLLINS, NITIN GANATRA (Masood in EASTENDERS) LINDA MARLOWE (Sylvie Carter, EASTENDERS) with a poem introduction by JLS star, ORITSE WILLIAMS. All Jane's plays are arts council funded.

Jane was consultant and appeared in the 90-minute film for Channel 5, "ROSE: THE MAKING OF A MONSTER" based on her book "ROSE WEST:THE MAKING OF A MONSTER", and made expert appearances in episodes of "TEN STEPS TO MURDER" (2021), "THE EARL OF SHATFESBURY MURDER", Spungold, 2022, "THE KILLER IN MY FAMILY" and many others in the US and UK. She also appears on news programmes for SKY ,eg, the Lucy Letby case, the death of Yorkshire Ripper, and ITV news programmes commenting on homicide cases, including Sabah Khan and India Chipchase, and topics such as further possible West murders.

Her books "ROSE WEST:THE MAKING OF A MONSTER" (also available on Audible) and "AFTER EVIL" about a victim of the Yorkshire Ripper, are published by Hodder & Stoughton. Her thriller novel "BETWEEN TWO WORLDS: A DETECTIVE HOBAN NOVEL" is based on the life and work of Dennis Hoban, the iconic young Head of Leeds CID in the 1960s, and won an honorary award at the San Francisco book festival. She has just taken a break from crime to write a book with Oritsé Williams, who founded multi-award winning boyband "JLS". Oritsé is Commonwealth Champion for Young Carers (appointed at St James Palace) and the purpose of the book is to help other young carers and young people at school and beyond, and is based on Oritsé's young life as a carer to his beloved mum.

Jane has a Modern History degree from London University, a Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy in Criminology from the University of Cambridge.
