Biography

South London born and bred, Hannah Holland is a DJ, composer, record label boss, and electronic music producer. Known to many for her presence in the queer underground dance scene, she's long been established as a DJ and artist who was raised on a diet of Kraftwerk, Grace Jones and Talking Heads, and inspired by the legendary Metalheadz drum 'n' bass parties of the early 00's. Hannah's move into soundtrack work has seen her score Steve Conway's feature debut 'Electrician', which was named in the official selection of New York Cinematography's Best Original Score in 2020 and winner of Best Music Top Indie Film Awards Tokyo. Featured in DJ Mag's electronic music soundtracks you should know, they describe the score as "minimalist compositions of echoed piano keys and mournful strings, combined to create something intimate yet deceptively epic." Following the Electrician, Hannah composed the music for the Channel 4 drama 'Adult Material', Dawn Shadforth's acclaimed four-part series concerning a woman's life working in the adult film industry. Emphasising the horror and emotion of the unfolding drama, Hannah's score encompasses minimal electronica, dark techno, ambient, and contemporary classical to match the unsettling nature of the story. Her most recent credit is composing the original score for director Bruce LaBruce's feature film, 'The Visitor', which premiered earlier this year at Berlinale Film Festival. Having released numerous singles and EPs over the last decade, 2021 saw the release of Hannah's anticipated debut album, 'Tectonic', on PRAH Recordings. Recorded under lockdown in Margate, the album combines all of her influences, from propulsive dancefloor fillers and post punk grit to dreamlike and cinematic landscapes.
