Biography

Julian Lewis, a Canadian actor and stunt performer, was born in the Beaches neighborhood of Toronto. The son of two artistically-inclined school teachers-his mother Doris, a painter, and his father Clive, a singer-songwriter-Julian developed a passion for performing at a young age. As a child, he was already filming skits and fight scenes with friends, a hobby that continued throughout his high school years at Malvern Collegiate and Cederbrae Collegiate. While at Cederbrae, he won a city-wide award for a short film he created, solidifying his interest in filmmaking. Beyond his creative pursuits, Julian was a highly accomplished martial artist. He began studying karate at age 11, and his talent led him to multiple provincial titles and spots on two Canadian Karate teams. He competed internationally, representing Canada in Paris, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and West Virginia, and in Montreal at the Francophone Games. His passion for combat sports continued later in life, and he went on to win the 2012 WKA National title in MMA. Julian's career trajectory began to blend his martial arts background with his love for acting. While studying boxing in 2004, he landed his first film role in the major motion picture Cinderella Man. After a year in Korea teaching English , travelling South Asia and studying martial arts, he returned to Canada and began working as an arborist while continuing to compete. Julian wanted an alternative lifestyle and decided to live on a boat for 7 years while transition to working as a stunt actor. He snagged small roles on hit series like The Strain and Suits. He further honed his craft by studying at renowned institutions such as Second City and Armstrong Acting Studio. With a versatile skill set that combines acting, martial arts, and stunt work, Julian has built a successful career in the entertainment industry. He has performed as a stunt man in over 50 productions, including RoboCop, The Boys, Umbrella Academy, and Nightmare Alley. As an actor, he has appeared in more than 20 projects, with notable roles in Reacher (Season 3) and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Julian's unique journey from a young filmmaker and martial artist to a respected actor and stunt performer highlights his dedication and multifaceted talent.
