A native Detroiter, Carla studied journalism at Northwestern University's Medill School, but quickly realized she could scratch her creative itch in the Radio, Television, Film Department. She got accepted to the Graduate Screenwriting Program at the University of Southern California, which officially marked her move to Los Angeles and a beginning to her 20+ year career in television. She has written and produced over a dozen television shows including That's So Raven, Half & Half, Hit The Floor and Good Girls. She is the Showrunner and Executive Producer on Bel-Air, where she won an NAACP award for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series. Looking to mentor other writers and share her craft, she returned to teach at Northwestern as a lecturer in the Radio Television Film Department.
She founded Babycakes Productions, Inc. as a vehicle for her creative projects, now being developed under her overall deal at
Universal Television.
