Monica Rodriguez Knox is a Toronto-based actress of Spanish and Portuguese descent whose work spans television, film, theatre, and voice acting. She can be seen in upcoming Lifetime thriller "Sleepover Secrets", for which she plays a leading role. Other upcoming roles for Monica include appearances in Citytv’s "Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent", Hulu/Disney+ series "The Testaments", Hallmark’s "To Philly with Love" and "True Justice: Eye for an Eye" and a comedy indie feature that will be running the festival circuit next year. Previous television credits include a guest-starring role on FX’s "SurrealEstate", FX comedy "Adults", W Network’s "The Love Club: Moms", Hallmark’s "The Jane Mysteries" and "Hearts of Robin Lane" and the award-winning horror anthology series "Tales from the Void". She also lends her voice to Netflix’s popular animated series "Unicorn Academy".
Grounded in both her craft and cultural roots, Monica continues to build a dynamic film and television career while also performing in theatre whenever she gets the chance. She most recently inhabited the role of Magdalena in Modern Times/Aluna Theatre’s co-production of "The House of Bernarda Alba" by Federico García Lorca.
While also developing her craft, Monica has expanded into the development of original projects for screen. Her original TV series concept "Hockey Mom" was recently developed with co-creator Mikaela Lily Davies into a short film proof-of-concept. Monica produced the film with Kat Peralta, Clara Altimas came on as writer and Mikaela Lily Davies directed. It premiered at Canadian Film Fest as part of the Comedy Igniter Showcase and was awarded the "Best Producing" prize. It is currently being developed into a series.
Deeply interested in female driven stories, Monica co-hosts and produces "Hitting Her Mark", a podcast dedicated to highlighting women pursuing creative careers. Guests have included Dani Kind, Sangita Patel, Nazneen Contractor, Dini Petty and Nicola Correia-Damude.
