Yanina May

Yanina is a New York-based visual artist whose work spans photography, filmmaking, and multidisciplinary art. Grounded in darkroom photography and film development, she blends technical precision with a natural storytelling instinct, creating imagery that evokes emotion, movement, and meaning.

As a photographer, Yanina's distinct visual language is vibrant, authentic, and expertly composed, with a nuanced use of light to craft compelling images for both emerging creatives and established brands. She has worked with distinguished actors such as Martha Millan (Fiona, The Cleaning Lady) and Antwayn Hopper (Hakim, Will Trent). Her work with musicians and bands has been featured in publications like Vogue Brazil, Fader Magazine, and 1814 Magazine, and she is thankful for the chance to have her work featured in such reputable and influential spaces.

As a filmmaker, Yanina seamlessly moves between the roles of director, cinematographer, producer, and writer. From short films to music videos, her projects focus on emotionally rich, visually striking stories, brought to life through intentional framing, close collaboration, and the use of light to amplify mood and meaning. The Opposites, a short film she co-created with the team at Grandson Studios, won the Silver Remy Award at the 57th Annual WorldFest Houston International Film Festival in 2024. The film, aimed at young adults, explores healthy ways to confront trauma and the positive outcomes that result from doing so. Yanina is grateful for the recognition and the incredible collaboration that made this achievement possible.

Yanina is also the co-founder of StarSeeds Create, a new art collective that supports artists across all disciplines, fostering creative exploration through both digital and physical mediums. The platform is dedicated to creating an inclusive, welcoming space where all creators - including those in the LGBTQ+ community, Neurodivergent artists, and artists with disabilities - are embraced, and where community and diverse ways of thinking and making art are celebrated.

With a growing body of work that reflects her dedication to creativity and collaboration, Yanina is focused on making an enduring impact in both the art and entertainment industries.
