Maaike Neuville (°1983) is a Belgian actress and director.
Maaike graduated in 2005 from Studio Herman Teirlinck in Antwerp. Her
career got a jump-start as she starred in various short and feature
films such as Dennis van Rita by Hilde Van Mieghem, Dirty Mind by
Pieter Van Hees, Droomtijd by Tom Van Avermaet, Of Cats & Women by
Jonas Govaerts and Code 37 - the movie by Jakob Verbruggen. Maaike
played lead characters in De Indringer by Frank Van Mechelen, Swooni by
Kaat Beels and Weekend aan Zee by Ilse Somers.
Maaike also stars in French-speaking films such as Get Born by Nicola
Palo and Avec ma mère à la mer by Alexis van Stratum, and other
international productions such as Goltzius & The Pelican Company by
Peter Greenaway and Let Me Survive (aka: The Third Wave) by Eduardo
Rossof.
In addition to her film work Maaike Neuville is also a well-known
television actress. She's played beautiful parts in successful
drama-series such as Katarakt by Jan Matthys, The Emperor of Taste by
Jan Matthys & Frank Van Passel, Van Vlees en Bloed by Michel Vanhove
and Clan by Nathalie Basteyns & Kaat Beels.
On stage, she's performed with various theatre groups, but since 2009
she's a member of Compagnie Marius.
In 2010 Maaike directed her first short film, Way Back. As a result of
this she was invited to the Talent Campus at the Berlinale. In 2013 she
made Sonnet 81, which already won several awards and is still
travelling to festivals all over the world.
Using her experiences on both sides of the camera in her work, Maaike
continues to combine acting and directing.
Apart from her mother tongue Flemish, Maaike is also fluent in French
and English. She speaks German and has notions of Spanish. In 2009 she
took a dance workshop with Julie Stanzak (Tanztheater Wuppertal).
