Biography

With his writing partner, Mark Huckerby, Nick Ostler is an Emmy-winning screenwriter of 25 years experience in TV and Film. Specialising in comedy, animation and family, Huckerby & Ostler have been head writers/show runners on several award-winning and popular series, including two seasons of PETER RABBIT (Nick Jnr, Cbeebies) and three seasons of MOOMINVALLEY (Sky One/YLE), and were co-creators of the BAFTA-winning cult hit THE AMAZING ADRENALINI BROTHERS. They have written hundreds of episodes of hit shows, including DANGER MOUSE, SHAUN THE SHEEP, THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO, THE ADVENTURES OF PADDINGTON, MR BEAN THE ANIMATED SERIES, OCTONAUTS and many more. Recently they were development and script consultants on BIG LIZARD (Cbeebies) and THE BORROWERS (TF1). They have also scripted several produced feature films, including the recent family comedy GROW for Sky Cinema and upcoming animated feature BIRD BRAIN (Cantilever Media). They are frequently hired to perform feature script punch-up and rewrites for clients including Studio Canal, Cantilever Media, Aardman and Sky Cinema. Huckerby & Ostler are authors of the acclaimed middle grade book series DEFENDER OF THE REALM "A thrilling mash-up of history and fantasy." (Kirkus Reviews). In 2026, Huckerby & Ostler have scripted a family feature adaptation of a best-selling book for Lupus Films (tba) and are currently head writing a new animated series for Channel 5 Milkshake (tba). They are also developing the best-selling TOTO THE NINJA CAT series by Dermot O'Leary for television. Huckerby & Ostler are represented by Cathy King & Alex Bloch at 42 Management.
