Iz Gutierrez is a Mexican-American filmmaker raised in Los Angeles. In 2022 he won Best Film Screenplay at the Mexican American Film Festival and Best Short at the Official Latino Film Festival for his historical drama They Call Us Sediciosos which also garnered other awards. Gutierrez was also selected to the Read LatinX Writers Initiative in the same year. Previously he was awarded the Panavision New Filmmaker Grant for his short Sin Frontera which screened at SAG Foundation, Academy Accredited Festivals, as well as won numerous awards and honors.
