Biography

Nik Tyler was born and raised in New York City. He is the son of Emmy Winning "Law & Order" producer/director Lewis H. Gould and actress/playwright Ellen Weissberg Gould (fka Ellen Whyte/Elle Tyler).

Nik began his professional acting career at age six. His early work included two seasons performing with The New York City Opera at Lincoln Center and two seasons in the Broadway production of "A Christmas Carol" at The Theater at Madison Square Garden. Those shows were followed by two albums and multiple television appearances and live performances across the United States. Nik was a musical performer on Kathie Lee Gifford's Christmas Special on CBS and also presented and performed at the 50th Anniversary Salute to UNICEF hosted by Hillary Clinton, Sir Peter Ustinov & Phylicia Rashad at the Warner Theater in Washington, D.C.

Nik attended LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts (the "FAME" school) and NYU, Tisch School of the Arts in New York City, where he majored in film and achieved a 4.0 GPA and recognition on the Dean's List.

Nik has portrayed many different characters on the TV shows "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", "Law & Order", "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", "ER", "Conviction", "2 Broke Girls", "Maron", "The Days & Nights of Molly Dodd", "Melissa & Joey", among others. Nik's episode of "Melissa & Joey" ("Toledo's Next Top Model") was nominated for a Sid Caesar Comedy Award at The Genesis Awards. Nik's singing voice was featured in dozens of national commercial jingles including "Nike", "Citi Bank", "Covenant House" and "V8 Splash". He also played a principal role in the National Youth Anti-Smoking Campaign, "Two Little Words", that aired on all the major networks. His film acting credits include "Get A Job" (Opposite Bryan Cranston), "Bold Native", "Kill Katie Malone", "Off The Ledge", "Kilo", among others.

On the stage, Nik performed the emotionally complex role of "Eric Goldstein" opposite Annie Potts, Suzanne Ford, Meredith Bishop and Danielle Doyen in the critically acclaimed play "AfterMath", written by Elliot Shoenman and directed by Mark L. Taylor. The play ran at the Matrix Theatre in Los Angeles and starred Annie Potts, Daniel Taylor, Michael Mantell and Mark L. Taylor. It was an LA Times Critic's Pick, as well as a multiple Ovation Award Nominee.

Behind the camera, Nik was the Post Production Coordinator and Casting Associate for the documentary feature, "Unity", which starred 100 celebrity narrators and was released in theaters worldwide. He also worked as the Assistant Music Supervisor on Hallmark's #1 hit series, "Cedar Cove", starring Andie MacDowell.

Additionally, Nik worked as the Celebrity Relations Manager for several documentary film premieres including "Be Here Now: The Andy Whitfield Story" at UTA, "The Ivory Game" at Netflix, "Gods In Shackles" at Harmony Gold, and "Vegan: Everyday Stories" at USC. He also worked as the Celebrity Relations Manager for Animal Equality's 10th Anniversary Gala at The P, Last Chance For Animals Annual Gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, and the Grand Opening of The Animal Rights Museum in downtown Los Angeles.

Behind the stage, Nik worked for the production company An 11:11 Experience and assisted casting the hit play "Elevator" which ran at The Coast Playhouse in Los Angeles for 7 months.

He also worked as the Celebrity Relations Manager and Casting Director for "Fashion Tails", a high fashion-celebrity photography series promoting dog and cat rescue.

In 2017, Nik began working full time as the Senior Celebrity & Media Relations Manager for Mercy For Animals-the world's leading nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing cruelty to farmed animals and promoting compassionate food choices and policies. While at Mercy For Animals, he has produced, directed and cast over 100 video productions and events, collaborating with inspiring public figures, artists and activists including Dr. Jane Goodall, Natalie Portman, Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Sara Bareilles, Paul Wesley, Kat Graham, Alicia Silverstone, Marlon Brando, Ellen Burstyn, Sen. He is the recipient of the Silver Key Award for "Excellence in Visual Art" by The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards as well as the Paul Harris Fellowship Award by the Rotary International.

In addition to the entertainment industry and the art world, Nik maintains a strong passion for activism, particularly focused on issues of homelessness, the climate crisis, and animal rights.
