Biography

Canadian Beirut-born, Maryanne Zéhil is fluent in French, English and Arabic, and speaks some German. Informed by North American, European and Middle-Eastern culture, her works intends to open a dialogue among societies.

She starts her career as a social-political journalist, before she moves to Montreal and works for France on documentaries and docu-fictions aired on air in more than 30 countries. Starting 2004, she writes, directs and produces fictional feature films released in movie theaters in Quebec and other countries, aired on multi media platforms and sold to television stations around the world : La Face cachĂ©e du baklava (2020), L'Autre cĂŽtĂ© de novembre (2016), La VallĂ©e des larmes (2012), De ma fenĂȘtre, sans maison... (2006) and Le Prix (2004).

She serves as a member of the jury on international feature film festivals and sits on selection committees. Since 2015, she divides her time between Canada and European cities. She has currently two features in the pipeline, a comedy and a drama.
