Biography

Writer, director, producer Lance Miccio was born and raised in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York. After serving in USN Submarine service , Lance studied abroad earning BFA from University of Wales in the United Kingdom. Later he went to work in the film industry, working in many departments, for producers and directors such as Robert Stigwood, John Milius ,Warren Lewis and Oscar winning executive producer John Daly . Lance went from a below the line to above the line player in 2002 as a screenwriter and producer with a promo trailer he created starring Francesco Quinn (Rah -Platoon) based on his screenplay "The Garrison" a tale of Dante's Inferno with the Battle of Stalingrad as a backdrop, which attracted Academy award-winning producer John Daly. The two joined up to create Happy Trailers HD LLC which Lance headed from 2004 -2017. Lance later worked as a co writer with John Daly along with Oscar winning Actor Martin Landau on "The Couple' Lance has directed and produced numerous documentaries for The History Channel including 'Night of the Long Knives' and Hippies . Other documentaries include 'The Jukebox From Edison to iPod,' narrated by Peter Coyote, which was nominated as Best American Documentary for The Dylan Thomas Award (The Tinny ) at The Swansea Bay Film Festival. The film was later accepted into The 60th Cannes Film Festival, and was made part of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's permanent collection in 2007.Lance was inducted into the Mexican Rock 'n' Roll Encyclopedia for his award winning full feature documentary 'Rock 'n' Roll Made in Mexico From Evolution to Revolution' which was produced by Rock' n' Roll legend Fito de la Parra of Canned Heat . Adding to his numerous International documentaries like 'Land of the Rising Fastball a History of Baseball in Japan' Lance Co Produced his first feature film written by Warren Lewis (Black Rain, 13th Warrior ) titled 'Brothers War' and gained his first feature film producer credit for the Hensman Brothers 'The Prey' Legend of Karnoctus in 2019 featuring Nick Chinlund and Danny Trejo. In 2023 Lance turned his comic strip The Venice Gulls into a ten episode series with animation producer Sabrina Elizondo.The cast boasts comedians from Curb Your Enthusiasm , Seinfeld and Nickelodeon. In addition Comedy legend Larry David another Sheepshead Bay alum has kindly acted as script consultant for The Venice Gulls finale 'The Codfather II.' in 2025. Lance continues to work and live in his adopted home of Venice Beach, California with his wife Lisa B. Miccio and artistic collaborator.
