Barkha Bisht is an Indian film and television actor. She works primarily in Hindi and Bengali movies and TV serials.
Bisht launched her acting career in 2004 with
Ekta Kapoor's TV series
Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi (2004). Her co-stars in the series were
Karan Singh Grover,
Manasi Parekh, and
Panchi Bora.
Bisht was brought up in military towns, including Kolkata, as her father worked in the military as a colonel. Her original hometown is Dehradun, Uttarakhand. She has two sisters who work in hotel management and fashion design. She completed her schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Fort William, and pursued her B.Com degree at Symbiosis University, Pune, India.
On March 2, 2008, after a courtship of two years, Bisht tied the knot with actor
Indraneil Sengupta, whom she co-starred with in
Pyaar Ke Do Naam: Ek Radha, Ek Shyaam (2006) and
Choices (2021). However, their marriage was short-lived, and the couple decided to part ways in July 2021.
Before essaying the role of a dancer in
Prakash Jha's movie
Raajneeti (2010), Bisht had featured in multiple TV series, such as
Kkavyanjali (2005) and
Ssshhhh... Phir Koi Hai (2006). Her first Bengali movie was
Dui Prithibi (2010), in which she appeared in a dance scene.
She went on to play defining roles in
Ami Shubhash Bolchi (2011),
Kashala Udyachi Baat (2012),
Villain (2013),
Samrat & Co. (2014),
Biporjoy (2017), and
PM Narendra Modi (2019). She also played the role of Kesar in
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's
Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela (2013), starring
Ranveer Singh and
Deepika Padukone.
Bisht was part of the main cast for the TV series
Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman (2015). Since then, she has also been featured in various web series and TV shows such as
Mukhbir: The Story of a Spy (2022),
Duranga (2022), and
Swaraj: Bharat ke Swatantrata Sangram Ki Samagra Gatha (2022).
Bisht won the Boroplus Gold Award for the Most Fit Actress in 2017.
