Biography

Hailing from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Nick Simon is a filmmaker whose multicultural upbringing-rooted in his Syrian/Lebanese heritage-has shaped a distinctive voice in genre storytelling. He began his career shooting DIY music videos for local punk bands before moving to Los Angeles in 2006 to attend the American Film Institute, where he was mentored by horror legend Wes Craven.

Simon's feature credits include The Pyramid (20th Century Fox), The Girl in the Photographs (which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival), and Truth or Dare, a perennial Top 10 Halloween title on Netflix. He is the co-writer of an upcoming branch narrative project with Alexandre Aja for Paramount Pictures.

In 2021, Simon directed Untitled Horror Movie, a critically acclaimed experiment in remote filmmaking shot entirely during the Covid-19 lockdown. His most recent projects include Entity Within, a supernatural horror film based on the true story behind The Entity case, starring Heather Graham and Mimi Rogers, and Coyote, a psychological thriller led by Justin Long and Kate Bosworth.
