Colin Curwen has been producing commercial animation and independent
productions in Calgary, Alberta, Canada since 2001.
A life-long fan of classical and CGI animation, Colin received his CGI
character animation certificate in Maya at Mesmer Studios in Seattle,
WA, in 2000 before completing his classical animation training at
Applied Multimedia in Calgary in 2001. After producing commercial
projects for a few years he founded New Machine Studios in the historic
Barron building in downtown Calgary in 2003.
New Machine Studios' first original production, 'How Raven Stole the
Sun', has gone on to win more than 30 awards at film festivals and
competitions around the world, and launched the animated television
series, Raven Tales, which airs on the Smithsonian network in the US
and APTN in Canada.
Colin continues to produce content for television, games and
independent distribution platforms at New Machine Studios. The studio
is working on a slate of low-budget animated feature films that
includes 'RavenTales: The Movie', 'The Wizard's Christmas', 'The
Wizard's Christmas II: Return of the Snow King', 'Spirit Tales' and
'The Adventures of Maximillion Bacchus and His Traveling Circus' based
upon the book by Clive Barker (in development).
