Biography

Cassandra Han is an Artios-nominated casting director who has been based in Europe since 2003. After more than a decade casting in New York, she has established herself as a key figure in building creative bridges between Europe and the US, with a particular focus on German productions.

Currently based in Germany, Cassandra has just completed casting THE WEIGHT, starring Ethan Hawke and Russell Crowe, and DEAD DAD GIRL, produced by Luxembourg's Samsa Film in collaboration with John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky. Her Italian production SAMIA, directed by Yasemin Samdereli and filmed entirely in the Somali language, received a Special Jury Mention at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival as well as the Audience Award at the 2024 Munich Film Festival.

Recent German-language credits include the global Netflix hit SHE SAID MAYBE, Amazon's upcoming feature starring the popular Elevator Boys (produced by Wiedemann & Berg), two installments of the long-running franchise THE THREE INVESTIGATORS for Wiedemann & Berg/Sony, and the six-part Paramount+ series ONE TRILLION DOLLARS. She also co-cast the ZDF series THE COMEBACK.

Other recent work includes German casting for the Lionsgate/YES series THE GERMAN, which won Best Screenplay in Competition at the 2025 SeriesMania Festival, and the sequel to Germany's 2011 box-office hit THE PHYSICIAN, produced by Zeitsprung for Constantin, Amazon, BETA, and ZDF.

Casting UK credits include the six-part Italian-language series MISS FALLACI for Paramount+, the feature film QUEZON for TBS Studios in the Philippines (part of an Oscar-nominated trilogy), the upcoming BLACK GOLD series, the period drama EIN HAUCH VON AMERIKA for German television, STORIA DELLA MIA FAMIGLIA for Netflix, and the animated feature SCHIRKOA: IN LIES WE TRUST, which premiered at the 2024 Rotterdam International Film Festival.

Casting Italy work includes James Mangold's Oscar-winning FORD V FERRARI, Terrence Malick's A HIDDEN LIFE (Cannes 2019), and two seasons of Gaumont's hit Netflix series BARBARIANS. In addition, she has cast numerous independent Italian films, such as the elevated horror THE NAMELESS BALLAD, TENSIONE SUPERFICIALE, and co-casting for the upcoming feature DISORDER by Italian auteur Giacomo Abbruzzese. Further Italian credits include LOST IN VENICE, THE DIPLOMAT, WHAT WE WANTED, OUR WONDERFUL YEARS, and DAVOS 1917.

Arthouse credits include BAD DIRECTOR by auteur Oskar Roehler, which earned Anne Ratte-Polle a Best Supporting Actress nomination from the German Film Academy, as well as Roehler's upcoming film ABSEITS. She also did US casting for SISTERS, a Latvian-Italian co-production that won Best Film at the Warsaw International Film Festival.

Cassandra has cast two feature films for Akson Studio, Poland's leading production company: CHOPIN, CHOPIN and FILIP (Netflix), which won the Silver Lion at the Polish Film Festival and earned her a Polish Casting Award co-nomination with Marta Kownacka.

Cassandra is President of the Global Chapter of the Casting Society (CSA), a founding member of the Italian chapter of Women in Film, and a member of both the German and European Film Academies. She has served on juries for European Film Promotion's Shooting Stars at the 2021 Berlinale and the 2023 Tallinn Black Nights Stars.

A founding member of Ethan Hawke's New York theater company Malaparte, Cassandra holds an MFA in Acting from Trinity Rep and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of a Chinese immigrant father and an Appalachian mother.
