Callan McAuliffe (30) is an Australian actor and author based in both Los Angeles and Sydney. As a young teenager Callan topped The London Trinity College Musical Theatre Exams, The SCOTS College Drama Scholaship exams as will as AIPA Auditions in Australia securing him tuition in the USA at UCLA.
Callan was launched internationally via his first USA audition at 14 years of age with Rob Reiner. Callan played Rob's lead role of Bryce, in the multi Award Winning 'Flipped'. This swiftly followed with a lead role for Stephen Speilberg and Dreamworks in 'I Am Number Four', then Baz Lurhmann selected Callan as Young Gatsby to Leo Di Caprio's lead role in 'The Great Gatsby'.
With this extraordinary launch internationally - Callan's diverse film credits internationally include lead and co-starring lead roles in 'Beneath the Harvest Sky' (TIFF breakout actor playing a French Canadian), The Stanford Prison Experiment (Sundance), Hacker (TIFF Award winning Director /Akan Satayev), Summer Night (dir. James Cross) and the romantic lead in 'About Him & Her'. Plus Australia's The Legend of Ben Hall, the acclaimed Australian series 'Packed to the Rafters', 'Cloudstreet' (dir Matt Saville) and TIFF nominated - 'Underground - The Julian Assange Story.' (Dir. by Robert Connelly). Callan's first short film at age , 'Franswa Sharl', (playing a French cross dressing teenager) won nine international awards including the Berlin Film Festival. Additional foreign films saw Callan as the lead opposite Sir Ben Kingsley and Gillian Anderson in the UK's 'Robot Overlords' and with Samuel Jackson in the South African shot film 'Kite' also starring India Eisley.
Callan jumped to TV just prior to COVID, securing a lead role and cast series regular role as 'Alden' in AMC's cult hit 'The Walking Dead' until 2019-2024.
In 2025 and 2026 Callan featured in AMCs, Mayfair Witches, plus made the leap back to feature films playing the co-starring lead in Lionsgates 'The Duel - Gentleman's Rules' with Dylan Sprouse. He will also be seen co-starring in 'Greyhound 2' filmed in Australia, as well as the lead role of Ethan Everett in 'Deluxe Ocean View' filming in Massachusetts.
Beyond screen work, Callan has voice credits to numerous international documentaries and audio books, International Cannes nominated, 'Tall Poppy'and his first fictional novel THE HILL GHOST released in 2019 to 5 star reviews, went into a second print run in 2021. Now due to demand THE HILL GHOST has now been written into a script for both both audio and an animated film for 2026/2027. Callan sings for pleasure, however AMC wrote a scene for Callan to sing an Irish Ballad acapella (The Last Rose of Summer) in The Walking Dead Season 9 premiere. He is a multi-instrumentalist (including mandolin, fiddle, banjo, guitar, piano, and Chinese erhu) and a tenor vocalist. Apart from a wide variety of accents used in all film/voice credits listed above - Callan speaks Mandarin.
Callan has been a UNICEF Australia International Ambassador since 18 years of age. Callan also supports The Wolf Connection in California, mentoring at-risk youth through rescued wolf-dogs, and works with Tourism Australia as needed, alongside Chris Hemsworth, Baz Luhrmann, and Ken Done.
