Biography

Rachel Daisy Ellis was born in the UK and migrated to Recife, Brazil in 2004. She holds a Masters degree in Social Policy, Planning and Participation from the London School of Economics. In 2010 she co-founded the Brazilian production company Desvia. Rachel is a creative producer and director with extensive experience in international co-production. The films she has produced have all been screened in competition at A festivals including Cannes, Sundance, IDFA, Venice, Locarno & Toronto, winning over 100 awards and critical acclaim. Rachel also co-wrote, with director Gabriel Mascaro, August Winds (Locarno, 2014) and Ebb & Flow and Divine Love (2019). In 2018 she premiered her first short as director, Mini Miss, which won several awards and in 2024 her first feature length Documentary Eros premiered at CPH:DOX (NEXT:WAVE).
