She has two older siblings: musician and producer Peter Asher and actress, baker, and novelist Jane Asher.

She married John Gillies on 5 April 1975 and they had two daughters, Sarah (b. 1978) and Helen (b. 1980).

She's a retired School Inspector and a former radio and TV actress.
