Stoyan Popov was born on July 24th, 1982 in Blagoevgrad, but grew up
and lived in Petrich, a smaller town in Southwestern Bulgaria. His
father, Hristo, is a civil engineer, and his mother, Tzvetanka, is an
early childhood educator. Stoyan has a younger sister, Nadia. In
Petrich, Stoyan first attended Kocho Mavrodiev Primary School and then
Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov High School.
At the age of seventeen, Stoyan moved to the United States with his
family and made Chicago, Illinois his new home. Stoyan spent his senior
year at Nicholas Senn High School and graduated with the class of 2001.
He then attended Oakton Community College and subsequently transferred
to The University of Illinois at Chicago. There, Stoyan graduated from
the College of Business Administration after earning a degree of
Bachelor of Science in Economics, class of 2006.
Since his college graduation, Stoyan has worked in the banking sector
of the Chicago's financial industry.
In 2009, Stoyan begun pursuing a career in the entertainment industry.
The first professional step he undertook in this industry was writing
screenplays. Stoyan made his film debut as a screenplay writer with the
short film
Destiny (2010).
Stoyan's hobbies include History, primarily American and European, as
well as Archeology. He also enjoys traveling.
