Biography

Sara Serraiocco is an Italian actress known for her compelling performances in various acclaimed films and television series. She gained significant attention for her role in the American sci-fi thriller series Counterpart, directed by Morten Tyldum, and the film Vermiglio, directed by Maura Delpero, which has been nominated for multiple awards, including the 2025 Golden Globes and the European Film Awards 2025.

Born in Pescara, Italy, Serraiocco began her acting career after attending the Italian National Film School in Rome. She made her film debut in 2013 with Salvo, which won the Critics' Week Grand Prix at Cannes. Her portrayal of a blind teenager earned her several awards, including the Globo d'Oro for Best Actress and the Nastro d'Argento for Best New Talent.

Notable films in her career include Cloro (2015), which was featured at the Sundance and Berlin International Film Festivals, and Worldly Girl (2016), for which she won the Shooting Stars Award for Best European Talent at the Berlin Film Festival and the Premio Pasinetti at the Venice Film Festival. In 2019, she received the Nastro d'Argento for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Thou Shalt Not Hate.

In 2022, she appeared in leading roles in Il Signore delle Formiche and Siccità, both selected for the Venice Film Festival.

In 2023, Serraiocco starred in Sulla Terra Leggeri (Weightless), a film by Sara Fgaier, which was selected for the International Competition at the 77th Locarno Film Festival. Also in 2023, she joined the cast of the French TV series, "Becoming Karl Lagerfeld", directed by Jérôme Salle which premiered worldwide at Canneseries 2024.

In 2024, Serraiocco starred in Maura Delpero's Vermiglio, which won the 81st Venice Film Festival's Silver Lion. The film is nominated for Best International Film at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards and for the European Film Awards in the categories of Best Feature and Best Direction. Serraiocco then starred as the female lead in Giorgia Farina's Ho visto un re, which has been selected for the 2025 Torino Film Festival.

In 2024, She was on set as the star of Sergio Castro San Martín's Il Cileno.
