Biography

Amen Igbinosun is an actor, writer, producer, and artistic leader whose work bridges cultures, expands the African diaspora, and explores what it means to belong. Born in Benin City, Nigeria, and raised in Rahway, NJ, he was immersed in the vibrant oral traditions of the Edo people from an early age. The stories of history, resilience, and legacy shared by his parents ignited his imagination and instilled in him a profound commitment to storytelling as a means of connection, empowerment, and cultural preservation.

After earning a full football scholarship to Fordham University, Amen initially planned to pursue law, but his passion for storytelling led him to the stage. He went on to receive his MFA from The American Repertory Theater/Moscow Art Theatre Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University, where he deepened his craft and explored theatre's role as a cultural and spiritual force across the world. His studies in Russia exposed him to a level of artistic reverence that forever shaped his perspective-one where theatre serves as a living library, a space to remember history, honor ancestors, and dream of the future.

His career has been dynamic and multifaceted. On screen, he's appeared in TNT's The Last Ship and the History Channel's Texas Rising, acting alongside Bill Paxton and Ray Liotta. He has collaborated with Tina Fey, bringing his presence to both dramatic and sharp-witted storytelling. In theatre, he has worked with visionary artists like Taylor Mac and Dmitry Krymov, continually pushing the boundaries of what performance can be.

Amen is a storyteller in every sense, with a creative reach that spans video games, virtual reality, commercials, and voiceover. But his work goes beyond performance-he's an arts leader who is deeply committed to creating space for voices and narratives that are too often overlooked. For Amen, storytelling is about more than entertainment; it's about building bridges, fostering connection, and using art to challenge, inspire, and transform. This isn't just a career for him-it's a passion and a purpose.

Driven by the belief that stories connect us to our past and shape our future, Amen actively pursues bold, meaningful projects that challenge, inspire, and resonate. Whether in front of the camera, on stage, or behind the scenes, he brings an unwavering curiosity and relentless dedication to the craft, ensuring every story he touches leaves a lasting impact.
