Biography

Harvey Zielinski is a transmasculine actor, writer and director working across film, television and theatre. His work as a creator is driven by a passion for queer storytelling and social commentary, often expressed through dark comedy.

Harvey recently wrote, directed, produced and starred in his debut feature SWEET MILK LAKE, an Originate Feature produced by Film Camp and financed by VicScreen, Screen Australia, MIFF Premiere Fund, SBS, Arenamedia, Minderoo Pictures, Feracious Entertainment, and WeirAnderson Films, with additional support from Impact Australia 2 and the ABC Fresh Start Fund. The film will premiere in 2026. It was selected for the TIFF Ontario Creates Market and has been nominated for an AWGIE Award for Feature Film - Original. Screen Daily named it one of "75 films to tempt festival directors in 2026" and included it in their picks for the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.

He is currently developing his second feature, THUGS, with Screen Australia support, alongside a slate of film and television projects.

For television, Harvey is best known as series regular Charlie in the ABC comedy WHITE FEVER, for which he also wrote. His co-written episode was AWGIE-nominated and shortlisted for the Betty Roland Prize. He has also played series regular roles in DEADLOCH (Amazon Prime) and DON’T LOOK DEEPER (dir. Catherine Hardwicke), opposite Don Cheadle and Emily Mortimer. Additional screen credits include LOVE ME, SPREADSHEET, WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS, and METROSEXUAL.

As a playwright, Harvey has been commissioned by Malthouse Theatre. His stage acting credits include WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF (Sydney Theatre Company), GENDER EUPHORIA, BECAUSE THE NIGHT, HIR, THE ANTIPODES, and SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER.

Harvey was Director’s Attachment to Emma Freeman on THE NEWSREADER (Season 2) and directed the Victorian Government’s THE UNSAID SAYS A LOT campaign. He is a two-time Heath Ledger Scholarship finalist, winner of the Casting Guild of Australia’s Rising Star Award, and was selected to be the Red Stitch Actors’ Theatre Graduate Ensemble member.
