Aleksandr Belov is a Soviet basketball player. 1972 Olympic champion. Honored Master of Sports of the USSR. He scored the winning shot in the final second of the match for the USSR team in the Munich Olympic final, which secured a victory over the USA.

He began playing basketball during his school years. He is a pupil of the Spartak Leningrad club. His coach is Vladimir Kondrashin. In 1969 and 1971, he won European Championships with the USSR national team. In 1970, he won gold at the Universiade. 1972 was a triumphant year for Aleksandr Belov, when he became an Olympic champion with the USSR national team. This was the Soviet Union's first Olympic victory. Belov made world basketball history with his game-winning shot in the final second of the final match. He later became the 1974 World Champion, the 1975 USSR Champion, and the 1976 Olympic bronze medalist.
