Biography

Originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, Austin Eckert is an actor whose work spans theatre, film and television. After launching his career on the West Coast, he relocated to Ontario after an offer to perform at the Stratford Festival in 2021.

Eckert is known for his magnetic presence, soulful intensity, and razor-sharp instincts. A four-season company member at the Stratford Festival, his acclaimed roles include Malcolm in Macbeth, Florizel in The Winter's Tale, Charles Courtly in London Assurance, Laertes in Hamlet, and Sebastian in Twelfth Night. He received a Leo Award in 2021 (Narcoleap) and an Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Award in 2023 (The Royale)

Whether in a rehearsal studio or on set, Eckert brings precision, danger, and quiet charisma to his work. Based in Toronto, he is expanding his screen portfolio with a focus on international co-productions.
