R Ajay Gnanamuthu, is an Indian Film Director and Screenwriter working primarily in Tamil Cinema. He started his career by directing a number of short films for the reputed Television Show Naalaya Iyakkunar (Season-1) aired in Kalaignar TV where he finished as one of the finalists. Ajay later went on to assist Producer-Filmmaker AR Murugadoss in Blockbuster Tamil films 7aum Arivu and Thuppakki.
In 2015, he debuted as a Director with the classic Horror-Thriller film Demonte Colony, which was received well by critics and the audience. It was declared a Blockbuster at the Box-office.
In 2018, his second film Imaikkaa Nodigal starring Nayanthara, Atharva and Vijay Sethupathi opened to a humungous response and was declared a Blockbuster.
In 2019, Ajay Gnanamuthu announced his third film Cobra, where is collaborating with the National award winner Chiyaan Vikram and Academy award winner AR Rahman. This magnum opus film is expected to hit the screens in 2021.
