Chase Alexander Lawless was raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada by parents Shelley Swirski and Vince Cownden. He is a screen actor best known for his work on the Amazon MGM series, Justice on Trial, the Paramount Plus series Mayor of Kingstown, and his guest starring role in the Fox series Accused, based on the BBC's BAFTA-winning crime anthology series of the same name. Lawless has also made appearances in AAA video games such as NBA2k26, and has a knack for performing in different accents and languages. Beyond acting, he also trains regularly in stage and screen combat, and has a particular passion for Japanese swordsmanship.
His mother worked in TV Journalism for more than 20 years, before devoting her time to not-for-profit management with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation after her daughter's Type 1 diabetes diagnosis. Following in the footsteps of Chase's grandfather, Vince worked successfully in radio for his entire career. Chase changed his last name for stage from Cownden to Lawless to honor his late Grandmother, Mavis Cownden (Lawless).
