• Eleanor Tennant, who is credited as a technical advisor for this film coached Sally Forrest on her tennis scenes. Tennant was the first female tennis player to become a professional and was runner-up in doubles at the 1920 U.S. Championships. She also coached numerous Hollywood stars, including Clark Gable and Carole Lombard.
• Based on the 1930 novel "American Girl" by John R. Tunis, which is a fictionalized account of the life of Helen Wills, a top female tennis player of the 1920s and 1930s. She won 31 Grand Slam tournaments, including 19 singles titles, and 2 Gold Medals at the 1924 Olympics in Paris for singles and doubles.
