• In the montage of newspaper headlines that follows the death of the king and his heir, the Pravda headline translates as "Labor of the Heroic Millions."
• The tune played by the marching band during the welcoming parade was used extensively in the classic BBC radio comedy, The Goon Show, which also starred Peter Sellers.
• The exotic table dancer in the early scene where Carlton-Browne and Bellingham are entertained by the PM is Katherine Keeton, originally from South Africa, and for a time in the mid 1960s known as "the world's highest-paid stripper". A few years later, she became the girlfriend and ultimate wife of Penthouse magazine publisher Bob Guccione, and served as a senior executive in his magazine empire. She founded several magazines herself, including the titles Viva and Omni, and died prematurely from breast cancer in 1997.
