• The show originated as "The Nurses" in 1962. When Michael Tolan and Joseph Campanella, playing doctors, joined Shirl Conway's and Zina Bethune's nurses characters for the medical drama's third and final season, its title was adjusted accordingly and appropriately to "The Doctors and the Nurses."
